Basic Team Coaching Program


LIM’s virtual Team Coach Certification Program (vTCCP) is designed to help participants acquire the fundamental principles, concepts and tools to help any team become a higher performing team. 


Participants will experience working in a team of fellow participants with the support of a LIM Coach while they, in turn, consult to a client who has a very real challenge. They will practice three discreet types of coaching – one on one, peer learning and team coaching – and discover when to apply each type.

Participants will learn from and with their peers as well as their LIM Coach in a very dynamic set of learning experiences. Upon return to their company they will be able to utilize some new skills and apply concepts and tools to strengthen whatever role they play in their organization.

Online Sessions

This Certification Program will be delivered as an online program over the course of 3 months, meeting twice per month, for three hours each session on the first and third Wednesday, beginning March 4th 7-10pm in three different time zones: NYC, Zurich, Singapore.

Each session is facilitated by an ICF Certified LIM Coach.

Certification Requirements

  • Attend all 6 sessions

  • Complete all assignments

  • Complete a final oral examination

  • Upon completion of these requirements, you will receive your certificate via email

  • Practiced 12 concepts and tools [Open Space, Storytelling, Power Planning Process, Stop Reflect Write Report (SRWR), Reflection and Dialog (R&D), Fist-Five, Norm-setting, Contracting, 4MAT, 4-C Coaching, Peer Learning Circles; Design].

  • Received feedback from their ‘home’ teams, peers and coaches.

  • Examined ICF’s 8 competencies.

  • Developed a deep appreciation of the members in our cohort.

  • Written their own philosophy on team coaching.

  • Had fun while learning.

    Course Outline: 6 Sessions


  1. Team Coach Basics Program Overview - Purpose; People; Process; Program – Participants will receive an overview of LIM’s vTCCP: requirements; outcomes; definitions; design; introductions; roles; norms; expectations /questions; Learning Partners. Since the participants are such a big part of our ARL approach we want everyone to be very comfortable with one another and thus we will spend adequate time getting to know one another personally and professionally.

  2. Gentle Interventions & 4-C Coaching – Gentle Interventions is the equivalent of the program text. We will begin sharing insights and questions related to prior reading of this book. Then we will be introduced to LIM’s 4-C Coaching process and the underlying coaching and planning template called The Power Planning Process. We will explore similarities and differences to other Executive Coaching approaches. 

  3. Coaching Teams Part 1 – The best way to understand how a team coach works is to experience being coached by a Team Coach. Participants will from a consulting team and work with a real client with a real challenge or opportunity. A LIM Coach will be their team coach as they consult with their client. We will extract insights at three dimensions: client / team; team / coach; coach / process. Participants will learn about the different hats a team coach must wear and the various concepts and tools the Team Coach must have at his / her fingertips to introduce JIT (Just in Time).

  4. MyWorld and Peer Learning – Participants will discover a very rich tool while sharing more about themselves. Self-Awareness is one of the critical learning principles that often serves as the trigger for learning – about self, about others, about teamwork, about coaching and everything else. MyWorld is a simple tool that begins to promote and unlock this curiosity of self, others and change. Peer Learning is a very powerful and simple coaching / learning tools that we discovered and developed over the last 20 years. It is very transformative and simple. LIM’s version of Peer Learning Circles has received acclaim over and over around the world.I

  5. ICF Competencies and ARL Principles – This session focus on ICF’s 8 competencies and LIM’s 10 ARL Principles. These are the building blocks that any team coach needs to feel confident that she / he has acquired team coaching fundamentals. We will examine these competencies and principles in relationship to Sessions 2, 3 and 4 – Coaching one on one; Coaching Teams; Coaching Peers.

  6. Oral Exam and Closing -- Participants will demonstrate by means of an oral exam their degree of mastery of 12 foundational concepts and tools that they will have experienced during the Basics Program. They will be able to enrich their learning via a dialog where they will be able to share their collective insights based on their experience and their essay ‘On Becoming a Team Coach’.


This program will utilize a combination of relevant self-assessments to increase self-awareness, tools, templates & questionnaires to facilitate implementation at work, practical models to increase understanding & conceptual clarity and case studies to bring the learning to life.

    Professional Development Requirements

It is suggested that participants complete 2-3 additional courses yearly to keep their OD certification up to date. It is recommended (not required) to have an ICF certification.
