The world is facing an urgent climate crisis — rising global temperatures, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion highlight the need for transformative change. With nations and corporations committing to Net Zero by 2050, sustainability has become a defining business and leadership priority. Yet many leaders and teams struggle to turn sustainability goals into meaningful action.

The Sustainability Coach Certification Program (SCCP) is an ICF-accredited program designed to develop coaches and leaders who can effectively guide individuals and teams in integrating sustainability into their thinking, decision-making, and performance. Conducted virtually every two-weeks, over eight 2.5-hour sessions, the SCCP blends coaching mastery with sustainability awareness, shared leadership thinking, and team transformation practices.

Today, most team coaches are not adequately prepared to understand sustainability issues or to coach teams on the complex challenges and opportunities they bring. The SCCP fills this critical gap by enabling coaches & leaders to:

develop awareness of the environmental sustainability challenges,
build the competence and confidence to coach teams in addressing sustainability goals, and
contribute positively toward a more livable planet for future generations.

Among the first programs of its kind, SCCP integrates ICF Core Competencies with sustainability science and team coaching methodologies. It empowers coaches to help teams create opportunities in the green economy, innovate for sustainable growth, and develop competitive advantage—where business success, people well-being, and planetary health thrive together.

Program Purpose

To enable coaches and leaders with the ability to coach leaders and teams to embrace and embed sustainability into the business & organization.

Who is this program for?

This program is designed for individuals who are committed to advancing sustainability through leadership and coaching practices. Suitable participants include:

Sustainability leaders seeking to deepen their ability to engage teams and drive sustainable outcomes within their organizations
Team or 1:1 coaches who want to build capability in coaching for sustainability and expand their impact in this emerging field
ICF ACTC credential holders who are looking to strengthen their team coaching practice with sustainability integration
Graduates of the “Sustainability Mindset for Coaches” course who wish to progress from mindset to applied coaching practice
Professionals without prior coaching experience who are motivated to contribute to sustainability and are open to developing foundational coaching skills

- Gain a foundational grasp of the Planet’s sustainability challenges, the state of Earth’s ecosystems, key terms and frameworks like the UN SDGs, Paris Agreement, and Net Zero goals
Adopt and Promote the Sustainability Mindset
- Integrating the 12 Sustainability Mindset Principles into sustainability coaching
Apply the Role and Tools of the Sustainability Team Coach
- Distinguish the different hats and team coaching competencies.
- Use Shared Leadership Disciplines (Connect, Contract, Collect, Collaborate, Challenge) to mobilize influence, power, and ownership (IPO) of the team
- The 7D process in sustainability coaching
Coach Teams for Sustainability-Driven Excellence
- Coach teams through the stages of becoming high-performing, high-impact sustainability contributors:
- Embracing sustainability
- Creating a green vision.
- Clarifying team norms.
- Embedding sustainability into daily decisions through mindset shift and peer support.
